The Lake District is a superb destination for dogs and their owners to go on holiday. We are dog owners ourselves, and firmly believe Helvellyn Cottages provide a great pet friendly holiday home. There are numerous walks from the door of the cottage, including many on the fells where most of the time it is safe to let your dog off the lead and roam free. You and your pet can also access the shore of Ullswater and the banks of Goldrill Beck to go for a swim. Virtually all of the local pubs are pet friendly, including the one closest to our cottage in Glenridding-
We would ask that as with all responsible dog owners you respect the local farming environment and keep dogs under close control when walking locally, especially during lambing season, which usually runs from March to May.
Whilst in the cottages please also keep your dogs off the sofas, chairs and beds. We also ask that dogs are not left on their own in the cottages.
They all have wood burning stoves with rugs in front of them ideally placed for an evening snooze! We also provide a dog towel, water bowl and some treats.
